Travel to Northern Ireland & United Kingdom You cannot travel to Northern Ireland using an Irish visa. You need a visa issued by the United Kingdom. If you travel from the Republic of Ireland to Northern Ireland and then wish to return to the Republic, you must have a valid multi entry visa or a valid Irish Residence Permit (IRP) or GNIB card.

Since 13 May 2019, a visa required national with a valid Irish Residence Permit (IRP) or GNIB card will not need a re-entry visa when traveling to and from Ireland. Your IRP card (or GNIB card) and passport will be accepted. If you want to travel to Northern Ireland, you may need a visa. You can get more information from UK Visas and Immigration.

They specify Northern Ireland when they mean something else. Similar to calling 'South Korea' just 'Korea' - even Obama has called them that. Secondly, the OP didn't mention borders at all. Didn't even say the word. He's asked if there's anywhere else in the EU that he can visit with the Irish visa. This could be France, Germany, etc.

You can check if you need an Irish visa on the website of the Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Service (INIS). Please note that Ireland is not party to the Schengen Agreement, and a Schengen visa or residence permit does not entitle you to travel to Ireland without a visa.

However it does not seem it works the other way round for people with Irish visas entering to UK. Requiring a visa to enter the UK depends on your nationality.
